Syndrome with Jonathan's Voice, a mental health charity.

Many people in high-achieving roles can be mercilessly perfectionistic, giving themselves impossibly high standards and then inevitably falling short. This can often although not always, go hand in hand with Imposter Syndrome, where you feel that you are a fraud and in danger of getting found out' at any moment, Both can be very destructive to our mental health as they generate huge amounts of self-doubt and anxiety. In this 60 minute session we will; Give an introduction to Jonathan's Voice

  • Look at mental health challenges in the IP and legal professions
  • Explore perfectionism and Imposter Syndrome
  • Look at ways to combat them

Penny has nearly 30 years' experience as a counselor, psychotherapist and trainer, working in a range of settings, including Zeneca (Huddersfield), Arla Foods, the NHS and in private practice as a counselling and organisational mental health consultant. However, most of her career has been spent working in Higher Education, most recently at the University of Bradford as Head of Disability, Counselling and Mental Health. After leaving Bradford in 2018, she joined the Charlie Waller Trust where she continues to work as a developing and delivering training and creating written materials for both Charlie Waller and Jonathan's Voice. She joined Jonathan's Voice as Mental Health Consultant and trainer in March 2022

Graham is a trustee and one of the founders of Jonathan's Voice. His son, Jonathan McCartney, was a patent attorney and partner at a large firm based in Bristol but tragically took his own life in October 2017 at the age of 35. Since 2018 Graham has been active in giving talks on mental health and wellbeing for a number of different organisations including CIPA, CITMA and firms in the IP sector. Jonathan's Voice firmly believes that mental health should be a strategic priority for all organisations so that all may thrive.
